Tausha Carlson
Owner / Broker 512 653 1966
Tausha Carlson embodies the best of Austin’s unique brand of entrepreneurship. Her boundless energy and drive to succeed are fueled by her desire to do good works.
As she says, “I felt pretty fearless when I started Marathon Real Estate. Truthfully, I was more afraid of sitting at a desk, working for someone else for the rest of my life. I wanted to harness my passion, have more freedom and meet new challenges. I wanted to put myself in a position where I knew my actions aligned with my philosophy. Most importantly, I wanted to enable myself to leave a positive and lasting impact on the world.”
She discovered her passion for real estate in 2003 when she purchased her first homestead, fixed it up, and sold it two short years later for a tidy, tax-free profit. Since then, Tausha has "flipped" homes, served as a general contractor, become a licensed real estate broker, founded Marathon Real Estate, invested in several rental properties and earned recognition as a Certified Negotiation Expert. Her breadth of experience and deep knowledge of the real estate field creates a remarkable upside in the client experience, allowing her to provide thoughtful, astute assessments of her clients’ real estate needs. She talks her clients through each step of the process, asks them about their hopes and concerns, and works to gain a deep understanding of their needs. She’s even been known to crawl under a house simply to get that extra bit of information needed for a client.
Tausha is more interested in becoming her clients’ life-long real estate advisor than just their one-time real estate agent. She explains, “My services don’t end with the transaction. I stay in touch with my clients to serve as a resource for them. I want to be the go-to person they think of when they have questions or needs that arise. I’ve helped clients with everything from planning a party to fighting their property tax assessment.” Tausha also helps people gain a better understanding of the real estate transaction process by teaching. She offers a quarterly home-buying seminar and wine tasting—which is open to the public—and teaches the “Flipping Your Homestead” course in the University of Texas’ Informal Class Program (www.informalclasses.org).
A native Texan, Tausha graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science and received a Master of Science from Michigan State University. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, and their black lab rescue mutt, Nelly. Tausha is a 13-time marathon runner (with a 3:09:29 PR), loves the outdoors and treasures a good book. She is very involved in supporting the community. Her many charitable activities include regular efforts to raise money for the battle against breast cancer and to end homelessness.
Tausha is a member of the Real Estate Council of Austin, sits on the North Austin Business Council, is a member of the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, Catalysts 8, and the Young Women's Alliance. Tausha graduated from the Foundation for Women’s Resources Power Pipeline Program, an elite leadership development program for women under the age of 35 in the state of Texas. The Women’s Chamber of Commerce of Texas named Tausha as a finalist for its Blazing Star Award in 2007. That same year, she co-founded Austin Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), a nonprofit organization that provides networking, knowledge resources, support and mentoring to Austin’s female entrepreneurs. She remains an active board member with the organization.
In 2009, Tausha has been recognized for both her professional accomplishments and her philanthropic work. She has been named to the 2009 Leadership Development Council (LDC) by the Real Estate Council of Austin, and was recognized by the Austin Business Journal as one of the top four producing real estate agents in the metro area. Additionally, the Young Women's Alliance and the Young Men's Business League named Tausha a finalist for the 2009 Austin Under 40 Awards. She was acknowledged for her professional contributions to the field of real estate as well as her tireless fundraising efforts for breast cancer awareness and research.
